BUST: Measure the fullest the part of your chest.
WAIST: Measure the smallest part of your waist.
HIP: Measure the widest part of your hips.
All measurements are in inches.
This is the Workhorse™ in Large.
Model is 5'5'', 170 lbs, 38C, and is more pear-shaped, than apple or hourglass. Bust is 40, Waist is 34, Hips are 45.
Notice the size she has chosen has more to do with her bust measurements than her hips or waist.
We often recommend women choose a size primarily based on their bust size, rather than hips or waist, though we do include all three measurements in our size chart.
This is because the dress itself is not tapered at the waist—it only appears that way when you add the sash. Wear it without the sash for a roomier, more flowy fit. The skirt is generous and will flow, generally, regardless of waist or hip size.
Here, you can see what the Large looks like with a fake nine-month pregnancy belly/bra, which increases not only the belly, but also the bust size (to well beyond her non-pregnant bust size of 40 inches).
With the fake pregnancy belly/bra, there is slight puckering around the button area.
However, we do not usually recommend sizing up for pregnancy/nursing.
The design and materials are intentionally chosen to accommodate this weight gain, so that you don't need a different wardrobe for that season of your life.
For example, the two-way stretch throughout means it will still be comfortable, and the pleating at the collarbone also helps extend room in the bust area. The two-way stretch holds up where other non-stretch materials would fail.
Video is included here so that you can see the length in action. The model is 5'5" (same model as above).
The Workhorse™ is just above ankle-length on for regular heights 5'5" - 5'7".
For petite heights 5'3" and below, it is at ankle-length.
For tall heights 5'8" and above, it is tea-length.
The model just turned 4. She is 40 inches tall and about 43 pounds.
She is wearing a size 5 in Ocean. She often wears a size 5 in other brands as well.
We chose her size based more on her weight than her height, and the size she usually wears in other brands, too. The dress is intentionally designed to be a little loose, so that she can continue to grow into it. It is meant to be worn every day.
The baby model is 10 months old. She weighs 21 pounds and is 28 inches tall.
She is wearing size 12 mo. in Teal.
All girls' dresses are the exact same design: double-hemmed at bottom, pleating in back and front, drop-waist, one pocket, inner torso lined with 100% organic cotton, two-way stretch throughout.
Darling snaps on the back—faster than buttons. Also, long hair doesn't get tangled in them (have you ever had to cut your daughter's hair out of a buttonhole? 🙋♀️).
The bottom is double-hemmed to be released as she grows.
